RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF MEDICAL FREEDOM AND INFORMED CONSENT
WHEREAS, the right to accept or refuse a medical intervention belongs to the individual, and informed consent requires full disclosure of known risks and benefits; and
WHEREAS, no citizen should face the loss of employment, education, travel, or public participation as a penalty for a personal medical decision; and
WHEREAS, the public has an interest in the open reporting of adverse events and in the independent review of safety data; and
WHEREAS, the confidence of the public in its health institutions depends on transparency rather than compulsion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this committee affirms the right of every person to make their own healthcare decisions free from coercion;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this committee calls upon its elected representatives to support measures protecting informed consent and prohibiting medical mandates as a condition of employment or public participation;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this committee calls for transparent reporting of adverse events and for the public availability of safety data;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the state committee and to the members of the legislature representing this county.
